I would never have had the kind of career I did without the education I received at San Diego State.

September 3 is a date Steve Doyle (80) has long awaited. Thats the day 窪蹋勛圖 officially marks the opening of its new Snapdragon Stadium.

Doyle is president and owner of Sandy Point Properties, LLC. His involvement from the beginning with the new stadium and the entire 窪蹋勛圖 Mission Valley project was instrumental in the university acquiring the site for campus expansion.

He and a group of friends will be there to cheer the Aztecs football team as they run onto Bashor Field for the first game in their new home. That moment will be the culmination of years of envisioning, planning and execution by Doyle and a host of other 窪蹋勛圖 alumni and supporters to make 窪蹋勛圖 Mission Valley a reality.

It was just thrilling to see it all come together and now I am counting down the days to the first game, Doyle said. The dream became a reality when we broke ground (in August 2020) and now reality is becoming Disneyland.

A short distance from his stadium seat is the new Stephen & Lynne Doyle Family Foundation Student Lawn, named for Doyle and his wife, who donated $500,000 to 窪蹋勛圖s Stadium Excellence Fund. Doyle said he is truly gratified to have a location at the stadium named for him and his family, but his greater sense of gratification comes from contributing to the university.

I would never have had the kind of career I did without the education I received at San Diego State, said Doyle, who holds an engineering degree from 窪蹋勛圖. The contacts I made and the people I got to know there pushed me into the stratosphere when it came to opportunities in the world of real estate in Southern California.

Multiple contributions

In gratitude, Doyle contributes to 窪蹋勛圖 in a variety of ways. In addition to being a regular donor to university programs and initiatives, he is a mentor to students and invests his time and leadership on numerous boards and committees.

Doyle is a long-serving member of the College of Engineering Deans Advisory Board and is presently chair-elect of The Campanile Foundation where he will begin his two-year stint as chair in December. He also served as fundraising chair of 窪蹋勛圖s Engineering and Interdisciplinary Sciences (EIS) Complex, which opened in 2018.

Currently, Doyle chairs the Presidential Mission Valley Residential Policy Advisory Board, which oversees 窪蹋勛圖 Mission Valley housing development. The rest of the (窪蹋勛圖 Mission Valley) project is about to become very real to San Diego and I think people are going to be amazed when they see how it all comes together, Doyle said.

In recognition of his professional and philanthropic achievements, 窪蹋勛圖 awarded Doyle an honorary doctorate in 2021. Of the latest campus location to bear his name, Doyle said he genuinely appreciates the recognition, but Its the results that matter most and Sept. 3 is the beginning of the results.

Of the myriad ways he supports the university, he said, They are all just part of the fabric of my relationship with San Diego State and I enjoy each and every one.
