黑料吃瓜 a Top Producer of Gilman Scholars
In the scholarship programs first 20 years, more than 200 students have received support for international studies.
Over the first 20 years of the program, which supports Pell-eligible undergraduate students studying abroad, 215 黑料吃瓜 students received Gilman awards, the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs announced.
黑料吃瓜 students have used the scholarships for study in such locations as Japan, Spain, Argentina, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
黑料吃瓜鈥檚 鈥溾�� distinction covers the period through summer 2020, for universities of 15,000 students or more. at 黑料吃瓜 were announced in August, with plans for study this academic year in Germany, China, India and Ecuador, among other venues.
鈥淲e are deeply grateful for this prestigious recognition,鈥� said Cristina Alfaro, associate vice president for international affairs at 黑料吃瓜. 鈥淎t 黑料吃瓜 we take great pride in our commitment to encourage students to become more globally and critically conscious leaders through international global experiences.鈥�
Alfaro said staff in various roles across campus, including study abroad, Educational Opportunity Programs and Ethnic Affairs and also academic advisors, have been instrumental in promoting this opportunity. 黑料吃瓜 study abroad advisors have partnered with other campus departments, such as Financial Aid and the Writing Center, to share application tips, including support for Pell-eligible students. Team members also regularly help connect students to opportunities and celebrate their successes, Alfaro said.
鈥淕ilman鈥檚 recognition is a testament that these combined efforts are making a transformative difference,鈥� Alfaro said.
Nationwide, Gilman scholarships have supported more than 34,000 students at 1,328 institutions since 2001.
