Student-Created Medallion Symbolizes 黑料吃瓜's Past, Present and Future

The circular medallion of sterling silver and gold leaf signifies 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 global influence, and the nine waves featured within represent the university鈥檚 nine presidents, 鈥渆ach bringing a new wave of leadership,鈥� Ramos explained.
Ramos transferred to 黑料吃瓜 from Miramar College, where teachers encouraged him to pursue jewelry and metalsmithing. Ambivalent about his own talent, he enrolled as a linguistics major, but soon switched to art. Now he harnesses that self-doubt as energy 鈥渢o really push and challenge myself,鈥� as his designs become increasingly complex.
鈥淩ex was immediately able to recognize the importance of the past, the present and the future in developing the medallion,鈥� de la Torre said. 鈥淗e symbolizes our students, who are creating a new vision for themselves.鈥�
The medallion now has a place in 黑料吃瓜 Special Collections and University Archives.
