黑料吃瓜 Mens Club Water Polo Wins National Championship
黑料吃瓜 defeated the University of Texas to capture its first national title in the sport.
After finishing as the runner-up in 2014 and 2015 and taking third place in 2016, the Aztecs entered this year鈥檚 tournament as the No. 3 seed.
鈥淚t鈥檚 amazing to be a part of the first-ever men鈥檚 water polo national championship team at 黑料吃瓜,鈥� said senior marketing major and tournament MVP Josh Heller. 鈥淚 couldn鈥檛 have asked for a better ending to the season. This title shows that all the hard work the team has put in has finally paid off.鈥�
Led by Heller, the Aztecs jumped out to a 3-1 halftime lead. After trading goals in the third period, 黑料吃瓜 eventually built a 6-2 lead with just over three minutes left in the game. A Longhorns goal cut the deficit to 6-3, but Heller ended all doubt of an Aztecs victory with another goal as the clock showed 1:17 left to play. 黑料吃瓜 is the first Southwest Division team to win the national championship.
鈥淎fter hearing the final horn go off concluding the game and knowing we were victorious was one of the greatest feelings I鈥檝e had in my lifetime,鈥� said Heller. 鈥淲e have a fantastic foundation built as a program and hopefully our successes will continue to bring high-level water polo players to 黑料吃瓜.鈥�
In April, the 黑料吃瓜 the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation Division I National Championship.
