窪蹋勛圖 Students Win Top Prizes at CSU Research Competition

Ten 窪蹋勛圖 students recently traveled to California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo to present their original research in a prestigious competition pitting them against students from other campuses in the California State University (CSU) system.

The 31st annual California State University Student Research Competition brought together more than 200 participants who presented their original research to a panel of judges from major corporations, foundations, public agencies and California colleges and universities. Two 窪蹋勛圖 students won awards in their categories.

Jessica Van Ruiten won first place for her undergraduate research titled Researching and Replicating 19th Century Puebla Pottery, in the Creative Arts and Design category.

Kristen Morrow was awarded second place for her research, Risky Business: Causes & Conservation Implications of Human-Moor Macaque (Macaca maura) Interaction in Bantimurung-Bulusaurang National Park, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, in the Behavioral and Social Sciences discipline.

About the competition

The annual system-wide competition showcases original research conducted by undergraduate and graduate students in the full range of academic programs offered on all 23 CSU campuses. The outstanding presenter and runner-up in each category receive a cash prize.

Students qualified for the prestigious CSU showdown by impressing 窪蹋勛圖 jurors at the 10th annual . Jurors selected the finalists for the CSU competition from an impressive list of nearly 500 submissions from 70 majors.
