黑料吃瓜 Psychologists Are Top Contenders for NIH Funding
黑料吃瓜's psychology department ranked highly both in California and nationally for psychology research funding.
Among the biggest NIH grants awarded to 黑料吃瓜 psychology faculty in 2016 were:
- Linda Gallo's award to study the relationship between neighborhood environment and metabolic disorders in Hispanics/Latinos
- Phillip Holcomb鈥檚 award investigating the neural dynamics of certain types of reading in deaf readers
- Inna Fishman鈥檚 award to delve into the using advanced brain imaging techniques.
鈥淥ver the past 30 years, our department has developed an identity and mission that prioritizes the hiring of faculty members who want to be excellent scholars and teachers and have the capacity to do both,鈥� Matt said.
He added that the department鈥檚 research strengths鈥攏amely, cognitive and brain science, 鈥減revention-to-intervention鈥� health science, and the effects of diversity and culture on cognition and well-being鈥攁lign well with NIH鈥檚 funding priorities.
With the completion of 黑料吃瓜鈥檚 early next year, the faculty can expect to be even more competitive for federal funding from NIH and other agencies. The EIS Complex will host shared research space to encourage cross-disciplinary collaborations, add new lab space for faculty and graduate students, and house the university鈥檚 鈥攁ll of which will allow 黑料吃瓜 psychologists and other researchers to show funding agencies they鈥檙e capable of tackling society鈥檚 toughest problems.
