Legendary Rapper GZA to Speak at 黑料吃瓜
The Wu-Tang Clan artist will discuss race, globalization and hip-hop in American culture.
The hip-hop legend looks to inspire students when he visits 黑料吃瓜 on Tuesday, April 11, for the 黑料吃瓜 Department of Classics and Humanities annual lecture series.
The lecture is sponsored by the Beautiful Arts Club and the 黑料吃瓜 Department of Classics and Humanities, and begins at noon in Montezuma Hall in the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union.
黑料吃瓜 student Jamey Keeton invited GZA to campus after hearing his online lectures at Harvard University and New York University.
鈥淚 wanted to hear from a speaker who could marry academia with popular culture to make topics more palatable for students,鈥� said Keeton, a huge fan of hip-hop. 鈥淚f we鈥檙e going to compete with other top-ranked universities, we need to bring these types of speakers to campus.鈥�
GZA has appeared with his fellow Wu-Tang Clan members' solo projects, and since the release of his critically acclaimed album, 鈥淟iquid Swords,鈥� in 1995, has maintained a successful solo career. The Wu-Tang Clan is known for its clever wordplay, twisted humor and innovative production techniques.
