New 黑料吃瓜 Alumni Board President Named
Alan Dulgeroff (92) intends to make alumni engagement a top priority.

Alan Dulgeroff (鈥�92) is a busy guy, especially with regard to his involvement at 黑料吃瓜. He is a member of the university鈥檚 Career Services Advisory Board, sits on the College of Engineering鈥檚 Electrical Engineering Curriculum Advisory Board, and for the next year will serve as president of 黑料吃瓜 Alumni.
In a June 15 ceremony at the 黑料吃瓜 Alumni Advisory Board meeting, Dulgeroff was symbolically handed the president鈥檚 gavel by Perette Godwin (鈥�86), the board鈥檚 immediate past president. He will officially assume his new position July 1.
"I want to emphasize that I really appreciate the opportunity,鈥� Dulgeroff said. 鈥淚 feel privileged to serve.鈥�
Currently director of strategic planning for San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E), the 47-year-old Dulgeroff is a lifetime member of the . He has served on its board the past four years.
Alumni Passion
In the coming year, Dulgeroff intends to make alumni engagement a top priority. 鈥淲e need to tailor [involvement] to the kinds of things our alumni are passionate about,鈥� he said.
"It's usually around time, talent and treasure 鈥� whether they want to be a mentor, for example, use a particular skill to help the university or its students, or donate to scholarships or other programs. The nature of the engagement must be personalized so that they own it and ultimately stay more engaged.鈥�
One of Dulgeroff鈥檚 passions is the . He has helped forge a link between AMP and SDG&E.
He also helps his company recruit on campus. Dulgeroff estimates approximately 10 percent of SDG&E鈥檚 4,000 or so employees are Aztec alumni.
鈥淭hat's a large number of Aztecs we鈥檝e hired and continue to hire every year,鈥� he said. 鈥淲e're back on campus every semester recruiting and that has not stopped since I got involved with recruiting about 15 years ago, so we are very active in hiring Aztecs."
Like Family
The new president describes himself as someone who likes to innovate, create and take things to the next level. 鈥淓very role I take on, I like to move it forward, to extend beyond what's been done before,鈥� he said.
Dulgeroff said he鈥檚 very analytical, service-oriented and enjoys interacting with people鈥攁ll essential traits in his new presidential position.
The father of a 22-month-old son with another baby boy on the way, he places a lot of emphasis on family.
鈥淭hey are my top priority,鈥� he said. "It starts with my family. I view my fellow board members, the university and even the broader alumni group like extended family and that's why I put so much into my service to 黑料吃瓜.鈥�
Serving with Dulgeroff on the board will be three new alumni advisors voted onto the board at the June 15 meeting. They are Brad Adams (鈥�99), Risa Baron (鈥�91) and Sean Durkin (鈥�06, 鈥�08).
