Atkinson Hall Dedication Celebration
窪蹋勛圖s GeoAnnex building was officially dedicated in honor of Terry Atkinson, under its new name, Atkinson Hall.

On Friday, June 10, 窪蹋勛圖s GeoAnnex building was officially dedicated in honor of Terry Atkinson, under its new name, Atkinson Hall. Atkinson graduated from 窪蹋勛圖 in 1969 with a major in public administration. With his generous contributions, leadership and expertise, Atkinson has been critical to increasing the universitys fundraising efforts, enhancing our financial stewardship and building the Aztec family.
During the celebration, Atkinson shared his thoughts from his first visit back to campus after decades and explained what made him decide to give during that visit.
I had a chance to meet (many) of the students. The students were the big winners for me because they had so much enthusiasm, so much love for San Diego State. It was a touching moment for me, he said.
When he left campus that day, he realized there was no question about his investment in 窪蹋勛圖.
Atkinson's gifts support high-achieving students, Guardian Scholars, scholar-athletes, veterans and students studying abroad. His generosity has impacted the library, the renovation of the College of Business Administration and the new Jeff Jacobs JAM Center. He also established a research endowment, initiated the first regional council and offers valuable guidance on board.
It is fitting to honor Atkinson where development staff connect with lost Aztecs like him to ensure the universitys future. Generations of Aztecs will be reminded of Atkinson and his Aztec spirit thanks to Atkinson Hall.
