A Look into 窪蹋勛圖's Marine Lab
窪蹋勛圖 Coastal and Marine Laboratory will open its doors to the public on March 10.

窪蹋勛圖's Coastal and Marine Institute Laboratory will open its doors to the public, for only the second time.
Offering rare opportunities to experience what goes on in a marine research lab, the 窪蹋勛圖 Marine Ecology and Biology Student Association is sponsoring an open house on March 10.
The open house will showcase current 窪蹋勛圖 research and the facilities at the Coastal and Marine Institute Laboratory through interactive exhibits and educational activities related to marine ecology and conservation.
This is a great opportunity for the community to understand and explore local marine ecosystems in an interactive way, said Violet Compton, graduate student and Marine Ecology and Biology Student Association co-founder. Its a fun opportunity to learn and ask the scientists questions at 窪蹋勛圖.
Some of the days events include research talks, lab tours, marine touch tanks, and SCUBA gear demonstrations. There will also be a raffle and local food provided by the Fish Market by donation.
Current 窪蹋勛圖 marine research
During the open house there will be two lectures on the research currently being done at the lab.
窪蹋勛圖 Assistant professor of Biology, Jeremy Long, will discuss research on a salt marsh insect that may influence the restoration success of sensitive habitats.
A lot of the research we do at the lab is very relevant, Compton said. We hope that this event will enhance the publics knowledge of current conservation efforts to protect our local ecosystems and inspires people to become environmental stewards.
