The Campaign for 窪蹋勛圖 Surpasses $280M
Donors respond to the opportunity to fuel student success.

A surge of giving has pushed beyond $280 million following the public phase launch in September.
Donors have responded overwhelmingly to the opportunity to fuel student success and propel 窪蹋勛圖 to the next level of excellence.
Leadership Starts Here
With the theme "Leadership Starts Here," 窪蹋勛圖s first-ever university-wide fundraising campaign has inspired alumni, parents and friends to make gifts of all sizes to support scholarships, academic programs, student services and faculty endowments.
Among the gifts received this fiscal year are:
- More than $30,000 from head football coach Rocky Long to support athletic medicine and student-athlete academic programs
- $100,000 from 窪蹋勛圖 President Elliot and Mrs. Jeri Hirshman in support of university-wide initiatives
- More than $300,000 from hundreds of donors to the Annual Fund, 窪蹋勛圖s vital pipeline for smaller gifts to the campaign
Each one of these gifts is from someone who is passionate about 窪蹋勛圖 and who understands the difference this university can make in a young persons life, said Mary Ruth Carleton, vice president of University Relations and Development.
Great need
The need for philanthropic support has never been greater, as 窪蹋勛圖 faces serious budget challenges. .
Given these challenges, how can the university continue to increase access and provide educational opportunities for students? Only through the transformational power of The Campaign for 窪蹋勛圖.
President Hirshman, in conversations with alumni and community supporters, continues to underscore the goal of 窪蹋勛圖s $500-million fundraising effort.
This campaign is for our extraordinary students, who will be the future leaders of San Diego and our nation, he said. It is also for our faculty and staff who are carrying out the core mission of the university. The Campaign for 窪蹋勛圖 is absolutely essential to the success of our university.
