ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Names Dan Gilbreath Executive Director of Research Foundation
ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï President Stephen L. Weber announced Dan M. Gilbreath as the new executive director of the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Research Foundation

Dan M. Gilbreath has been appointed executive director of the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Research Foundation, ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï President Stephen L. Weber announced today. He brings more than 30 years of higher education financial management experience to his position.
"Dan's outstanding record of success at both ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï and UCSD makes him an exceptionally qualified new colleague," Weber said. "We all look forward to working with him as he takes the helm of this important campus organization."
Dan has a bachelor's degree in accounting and an MBA, both from ºÚÁϳԹÏ. He served as ºÚÁϳԹÏ's controller from 1990 to 1999 and held various management and accounting positions at ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï during the 17 years prior to his appointment as controller. Dan also served as Director of the Office of Post Award Financial Services at UCSD, directing the financial management of UCSD's grant and contract funds totaling approximately $600 million, retiring in 2006.
ºÚÁϳԹÏ's Vice President for Research, Dr. Thomas Scott, had been serving as interim director of the ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Research Foundation until Gilbreath's appointment on June 2nd.
Established in 1943, ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Research Foundation is a self-financed, non-profit, auxiliary organization chartered to further the educational, research and community service objectives of ºÚÁϳԹÏ. ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Research Foundation is currently administering approximately 1,000 active grants and contracts, and annual revenues approaching $160 million. With 157 central support staff and 2,450 grant and contract project employees, it is the largest auxiliary within the CSU system.
